JURY

BRUNO CANINO president
Born in Naples, he studied piano and composition at the Conservatory of Milan, where he taught for 24 years; And for ten years he held the course of piano, and chamber music at the Conservatory of Bern. As a soloist and chamber pianist, he played in the main European concert halls and Festivals in America, Australia, the Soviet Union, Japan and China. He plays in piano duo with Antonio Ballista, and collaborates with illustrious instrumentalists such as Accardo, Ughi, Amoyal, Itzahk Perlman, Blacher. He was from 1999 to 2002 director of the Music section of the Venice Biennale. He has devoted himself particularly to contemporary music, working, among others, with Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, Karl-Heinz Stockhausen, Georgy Ligeti, Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono and Sylvano Bussotti, of whom he often performed works at first performance. He has played under the direction of Abbado, Muti, Chailly, Sawallisch, Berio, Boulez, with orchestras such as the Philharmonic of La Scala, St. Cecilia, Berliner philarmoniker, New York philarmony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestre National de France. He regularly holds masterclasses for solo piano and chamber music, in Italy, Germany, Japan, Spain, and participates in the Marlboro Festival in the United States. He currently teaches at the Istituto Mùsica de Càmara in Madrid. It is often invited to be part of juries of important international piano competitions. His book "Vademecum of the Chamber pianist" is published by Passigli.
