ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

MAURIZIO MATARRESE He graduated with the highest honors and honors at the Conservatory of Music "Niccolò Piccini" in Bari under the guidance of Marisa Somma. Later he continued his piano studies with Novin Afrouz, Paul Badura Skoda, Aldo Ciccolini and FRANÇOIS-JOËL THIOLLIER. debuted at the age of seventeen by executing the "Op Konzertstücke. 79 "of Carl Maria von Weber at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, accompanied by the Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari. Since then, he has followed a brilliant concert career, both solo and piano duo with his wife Carla Aventaggiato, and has played for important musical associations in prestigious venues (Rome, Milan, Lecce, Brindisi, Rovigo, Cosenza, Matera, Potenza, Ravello, Amalfi etc.) With the public and the critics everywhere. On the occasion of the New Year 2008 he performed the "Rhapsody in Blue" of George Gershwin at the Teatro Piccinni in Bari, a concert recorded and televised by the TV station "Telenorba".  Awarded in numerous national and international piano competitions, he has his credit for the engraving of two CDs: "Franck & Beethoven" (Fonit Cetra 1990), "Nino Rota, the piano music of Fellini's films" (Ducale 1997). This last recording received very flattering critical judgments: "...Brilliant, fascinating and intensely poetic execution (Rome); ...Happy interpreter and fervent temperament (La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno ";...Work with remarkable artistic value (Amadeus); ...Intimacy and sweetness (Il Sole 24 Ore).
Regularly invited to be part of jury committees of national and international piano competitions, he is artistic director of the National Piano Competition "Città di Casamassima", of the Musical association "Amadeus" di Casamassima and the "Giovanni Colafemmina" study centre of Acquaviva delle Fonti. Master Piano teacher at the Conservatory "N. Piccini" In Bari, has been teaching activities since the age of eighteen years and his thirty-year experience is comforted by the success of many of his pupils in competitions and concerts. He has held seminars on piano technique and specialization courses in Bari, Lucera, Borgia, Trani, Vieste and Marina di Pietrasanta.
